Save money when you drop off recycling at Silverstream Landfill's Zero Waste Hub!
When you bring both general waste and recyclable waste to Silverstream Landfill between the hours of 10am – 3pm, seven days a week, your recycling can gain you an overall discount for your visit by visiting the Zero Waste Hub.
Here's how it works:
1) Check if the load you're taking to the landfill transfer station has recoverable (recyclable / repairable) items such as whiteware (e.g. fridges), metals, e-waste (e.g. phones, laptops, kitchen devices), household goods (e.g. furniture, bikes) and hazardous waste.
2) Try to group the items and separate them from the rest of your load - either on top or easy-to-access. Be sure to check www.earthlink.org.nz/recycling - if your entire load is accepted by Earthlink, you can drop it off at their site in Taitā free-of-charge!
3) Once you get to Silverstream landfill transfer station, first head to the Zero Waste Hub. Here, our awesome Zero Waste team will identify any unload any recoverable items from your vehicle / trailer.
4) They'll then give a discount voucher on the percentage of goods recovered from your overall load. The more recyclable and reusable items you have, the higher the discount (capped at 50%).
5) Once you have your voucher, go ahead and throw the rest of your load into the rubbish pit.
6) Present your voucher at the kiosk on the way out to claim your discount!
The voucher must be used during your visit and will only be valid for 30 minutes - only one voucher can be used per visit. Discount vouchers are available seven days a week, from 10am to 3pm. If no member of staff is available due to sickness, please return on another day.
Of course, if everything you’re looking to get rid of can be recycled, you CAN take it directly to Earthlink at 25 Peterkin Street, Taitā, Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai / Lower Hutt.
