Lower Hutt residents have high levels of satisfaction with Local Government, according to the latest Quality of Life Survey.
The survey measures residents’ perceptions across a range of measures that impact Kiwis’ quality of life.
Key survey findings in relation to local government in Lower Hutt showed residents expressed:
- higher than average confidence in council decision-making
- higher than average view that the public has an influence on council decision-making.
- equal highest degree of trust in local government.
Lower Hutt residents also reported higher than average level of agreement that their local area is a great place to live.
The city also rated highly in the ease of travelling locally without the use of a private vehicle and that public transport was a practical alternative to driving.
But the overall quality of life for those living in Lower Hutt declined when compared to the previous survey. Reduced financial wellbeing, reduced health and wellbeing, and work-related issues were key reasons for the drop-off.
There was also a higher-than-average belief that begging was a problem in the city.
