It’s school holiday time AGAIN. Are you stuck trying to create fun activities to do with the kids? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered! There are plenty of fun events on this July in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai.
Join in on the Sweet As Hutt’s Hot Chocolate Challenge! Each participating cafe has created their own new and improved take on the classic Hot Chocolate. Such as Chocolate Afghan, Bubble N Spice, White Spiced Pumpkin Pie, Chocky Chow, Butterball Hot Chocolate and more - Mmmm delicious! Check out the full list of cafes competing and their spin on a hot chocolate here: sweetsaschallenge.nz
Take the whānau along to some awesome events and activities to celebrate Matariki Puanga! The Hutt City Council’s Matariki Puanga Celebration is in Hillary Court, Naenae on 9 July. You can enjoy waiata, kapa haka and more from local groups, activities and mahi toi, delicious kai, as well as a performance from special guests - Ardijah! See the full list of activities here: hutt.city/matarikipuanga
Splish and splash at one of our local pools – Huia and Stokes Valley. Let the kids improve on their swimming skills, play mermaids and pretend to be sharks!
Get some fresh air and enjoy a walk with the whānau. There are a range of exciting walks for those who like a challenge, to those who would rather go on a leisurely stroll. Explore our range of walks here: hutt.city/trails
Get those library cards out and take a trip down to one of your local Neighbourhood Hubs and libraries. Let the kids find their new favourite book series to get stuck into and obsess about. Raining or too cold outside to make the trip? Don’t forget to download the Hutt City Libraries app to access online books and more! Find out more about our local hubs and libraries here: hutt.city/library
If the sun’s out and there’s no cloud in sight, your local park is also a perfect option! Take a picnic lunch with you, and once the kids have tired themselves out, they can dive into some yummy kai and satisfy their hunger.
These are just a few activities you can do these school holidays in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai. For more inspiration, check out Eventfinda!
