Keeping our communities safe and secure
Kia Haumaru – Safer Centres is a free commercial community resilience programme that builds skills and fosters communication among customer-facing organisations and destinations in Lower Hutt.
The programme enhances wellbeing and safety in the Lower Hutt CBD and surrounding neighbourhoods, while also aiming to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
Kia Haumaru - Safer Centres is based on the principle of kotahitanga - working together to create caring, safe, and thriving environments for those living, visiting, working, and doing business in our communities.

Join the Kia Haumaru community
Retail, hospitality and consumer-facing businesses in Lower Hutt are invited to register for training through Kia Haumaru Safer Centres Programme. Training covers business resilience, security advisory, and guardianship resources. There is no cost to participate.
