Report Deer Sightings

Feral deer and pigs are causing damage to both our natural environment and residential areas in Lower Hutt. These invasive species damage private property, disrupt gardens, and have severe ecological impacts. They degrade native forests by eating vegetation, preventing the regeneration of native plants, and disturbing habitats essential for indigenous wildlife.

Hutt City Council is gathering information to better understand the extent of this issue and develop effective management strategies. We encourage residents to report any sightings of feral deer or pigs through our online survey. Your contributions will assist in monitoring their presence and mitigating their impact on our community and biodiversity.
