Find out about our vision to expand the network of key walking and cycling routes.
Lower Hutt's walking and cycling network is scheduled to grow over the next few years, with new cycleways and shared paths developed on key routes. The new facilities will make it easier and safer to get around the city on foot and by bike.
These plans are summarised in the Hutt City Cycling and Micromobility Business Case (PDF 9.6MB) which builds on the programme of activities summarised in the Walk and Cycle the Hutt Plan 2014-2019 (PDF 2.3MB). There will also be road safety campaigns, cycle and scooter skills training, events, and promotions to encourage more people to choose active modes of travel more often.
Our infrastructure investment partners are the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA), and the Urban Cycleways fund
