Days Bay Beach

Days Beach is a beautiful sandy beach popular with swimmers and walkers and while it is not patrolled, the sheltered nature of the beach and its gentle incline make it a safe swimming spot.

How to get here

The East by West Ferry can bring you here from downtown Wellington in 20 minutes. You can take buses 81 and 83 too.

Rona Bay Beach

Rona Bay is a sand and pebble beach situated in Eastbourne. The beach features sand hills and verges a large park. With changing facilities, a pool, toilets, a playground and plenty of parking this site is a great place for families.

Petone Beach

Petone Beach is groomed over the summer period and is safe for swimming in most places. There’s no patrol in place, though, so please watch your children.

A swimming raft is anchored off Oriental Street from Labour Weekend until Easter.

The Lions Park playground is popular with children of all ages, as is the Lions Park Model Railway, which operates on Sundays between 1pm and 4pm in clear weather.

You can access the Petone Foreshore from either end of the Petone Esplanade.
