About Community Boards
The Community Boards hold five meetings each year.
All the meetings are open to the public, except for items considered under 'public excluded' business.
At the start of each meeting we make time for public comment. During this time, anyone can speak for 3 minutes on any item that is in the order paper.
We advertise the community meetings in advance. You can get order papers two working days before each meeting
What Community Boards do
Community Boards decide on things like:
- Naming new roads and alterations to street names (in the Community Board’s area).
- Official naming of parks, reserves and sports grounds within the provisions of Council’s Naming Policy.
- Removal and/or planting of street trees within the provisions of Council’s Operational Guide for Urban Forest Plan.
You can find out more about what Community Boards do and what they advise Council to do in our Community Boards Functions and Delegations document.
Community Board meeting dates and papers are available on Infocouncil
