Proposed Graffiti Removal Bill

A Hutt City Council (Graffiti Removal) Bill 2011 is being promoted as a local bill to Parliament as one strand in a city-wide strategy to get on top of graffiti vandalism.

The purpose of the Bill is to allow Hutt City Council to remove tagging immediately from private property visible from a public place.

We have made good progress in reducing graffiti vandalism across the city but it is a broad strategy that includes persistence in ensuring tags in public places are eliminated as quickly as possible.

The Bill is currently being publicly notified in August and September.
