District Plan

We are required to prepare a District Plan under the Resource Management Act 1991. The District Plan contains information about the management of natural and built resources and the way land can be used or developed.

What is the District Plan?

The District Plan contains our objectives, policies, rules and maps for managing activities and development in the city.

The District Plan's objectives, policies, rules, maps and appendices illustrate what developments or restrictions apply to a particular property or area.

District Plan changes

The District Plan is subject to ongoing monitoring and review throughout its lifetime. Plan changes to update the District Plan may be initiated by the council or by individuals. Plan changes may be required because of new information, because of research, or to respond to the changing needs and values of the community.

Notices of Requirement

A Notice of Requirement is an application by a requiring authority such as a Minister of the Crown, a network utility operator or a local authority to designate land for a particular activity, often a public work.
