Rubbish and Recycling

Your guide to reducing, reusing and recycling waste

Lets keep Hutt City a great place to live

Here in Hutt City we all live close to and enjoy spectacular hills, rivers, parks and bush. But our environment is at risk. We're creating far too much waste, which is filling up our landfills.

Last year each household in Hutt City produced on average enough waste to fill 230 black rubbish bags. What a lot of waste!

But it doesn't have to be this way. Almost all of what we put in the rubbish and bury in the landfill can be recycled, reused or composted. Here in SAM's Word on Waste you'll find plenty of good ideas to reduce, reuse, and recycle your waste.

It's easy, it will save you money, and you'll be helping to ensure that in the future, Hutt City is still a great place to live.

Recycle, Reduce and Reuse

The best way to cut down your waste is to reduce the amount you create and to reuse whatever you can. You can then recycle anything else.
